Weis Markets to Open Dec. 9 in Fogelsville

The new Weis Markets superstore will employ 160 people. It is accepting applicants.

 

The much anticipated Weis Markets superstore at Route 100 and Glenlivet Road in Fogelsville will open at 6 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, the company announced Tuesday.

The 65,800-square-foot superstore will feature a produce department with a large selection of organic produce, an in-store café where beer will be sold and a full-service pharmacy.

It will be the first LEED-certified location in the company's 162-store footprint, the company said in a prepared release.

To achieve the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, the new supermarket will measurably reduce its environmental impact, in part by using advanced techniques to reduce refrigerant emissions, the company has said.

The new store will employ 160 people. It is actively filling 110 new positions.

Weis Markets will hold a Grand Opening community celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. Dec. 9.

The property also will have 12,000 square feet of rental space. No tenants have been announced.
