Sharp Corp. To Build Employee Parking Deck

The deck is part of the Upper Macungie company's expansion plans, but it must first build a temporary parking lot to accommodate employee parking.

Pharmaceutical packaging company Sharp Corp., which announced its plans to expand its Upper Macungie plant in November, will begin with constructing a one-level parking deck at its 7451 Keebler Way location.

However, in order to accommodate current employee parking, the company asked Upper Macungie planners Wednesday night for approval of a temporary parking lot that would provide 101 spaces in the interim.

Paul Szewcak of Liberty Engineering Inc. of Allentown said the major additions to the property could begin in the spring or early summer.

Szewcak told planners the temporary lot could be in place "for one to two years," depending on how long the addition takes.

Sharp plans to add floor space to build more sterile and climate-controlled  "clean rooms," as well as remodel an adjacent 25,000-square-foot building on for production.
