New Giant in Trexlertown Opens Dec. 7

The new Giant store in Trexlertown will include a gas station and 74,000 square feet of shopping space.

The long-awaited new Giant Food Store, located at 7150 Hamilton Boulevard in Trexlertown, will open its doors to the public on Dec. 7 at 8 a.m., the company announced in a release.

The store will replace the old location, which will close on Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. The company said the new Trexlertown location boasts 74,000 square feet of shopping space, an increase of 17,000 square feet. The store's amenities will include a pharmacy and a gas station, the company said.

The company said Michelle Rex has been appointed as general manager of the new store, which will be open 24 hours a day and employ 250 people.

“We have been committed to the Trexlertown community since 1996, and we are
excited to introduce a number of state-of-the-art amenities to our customers in our new store," said Rex in the release. “We can’t wait to show off our new look that will feature a pharmacy and fuel station, plus customers will still find the same friendly associates providing great service, quality, selection and savings.”

STOP AND SHOP, GIANT FOODS, AND AHOLD USA HIRES ILLEGAL ALIENS.
When you go into one of these supermarkets do you notice how clean their floors look? Well, I have to say yes they do look good. However, they are being cleaned at night by undocumented illegal aliens. Ahold USA, the parent company, is a foreign company from the Netherlands who directly allows this practice to benefit their own pockets. The illegal aliens are decent people who are exploited and do the work of 3 people for the sake of corporate creed. For what they spend on floor cleaning the work can only be performed by people that live in the shadows, pay no taxes and live in crowded housing. It's almost modern day slavery and the American worker suffers with no jobs. If Ahold spent more money on their floor cleaning at their 700 plus stores, I think they would find 1600+ American workers willing to do the work! Please let them know that this has to stop and to follow Wal-Mart’s lead and stop exploiting undocumented illegal aliens! It's time to make less profit for the Netherlands and give American workers a chance!!!!

I have to say, I do have concerns about all the empty stores in those two shopping centers (where the old Giant is and the new Giant). I would love to know what the plans are for the empty ones. I heard a rumor that Rednors is moving to the old Giant space, but then what will happen to the Rednor's space? Confirmed information would be greatly appreciated!
