Logistics Company to Create 258 New Jobs, State Says

Yourway Transport Inc., a specialty transportation and logistics company in Upper Macungie, announced Wednesday its plans to expand its services—a move that will create 258 new jobs, according to a release from the state Department of Community and Economic Development.

The company, at 6681 Snowdrift Road, plans to renovate its existing 120,000-square-foot facility as it expands its BioPharma services to include logistics and deliveries for clinical trials.

The company, found in 1997, will spend more than $11.5 million in renovations, infrastructure improvements, new equipment and employee training. It will create the new job over the next three years and retain 25, the release said.

A funding offer from the state Department of Community and Economic Development includes a $350,000 Pennsylvania First grant; $516,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits; and $116,100 from the Guaranteed Free Training Program, for skills training for employees. The company will also receive a $1.75 million loan from the Machine and Equipment Loan Fund.

In a prepared statement, Gov. Tom Corbett said, "Today’s announcement is a great example of state government working with business to create new job opportunities."

Gulam Jaffer, president of Yourway Transport, said in the release, “The new facility will significantly increase our ability to service the clinical trial material supply chain."

The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team, a group of economic development professionals who work with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania, in collaboration with the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation.

“Yourway Transport’s creation of 258 new jobs in Upper Macungie Township is another example of how major companies are recognizing that the Lehigh Valley can advance their business agenda,” said Don Cunningham, president and CEO of Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp.

“Timing is critical when bringing a new test drug to the market. Yourway Transport is recognized for its proficiency and safety when transporting these goods. Our region’s location and workforce is a perfect fit to accentuate that reputation,” Cunningham said in the release. 

Yourway Transport is the latest company to announce expansion or development plans in Upper Macungie.
