Lehigh Valley Martial Arts Founder Never Stops Learning

Intructors at three local locations teach self-confidence, discipline and steps to achieve inner peace.

Not many people have the discipline to stay motivated to try and improve on tasks after having trained the body and mind for the past 37 years.

Starting from the age o14, founder Paul Miller holds a fifth- degree black belt in kyokushin karate, a black belt in ryu kempo, the title of master in chih chun tao Kung Fu and tai chi chuan. He's also studied Brazilian Jujitsu.

And he isn’t done learning yet.

“I feel like I am continuously learning. Seriously, the people around me become my teachers. Doesn’t necessarily have to be a martial arts teacher, but some sort of teacher every day,” he said.

Sitting down with the owner of the Lehigh Valley Martial Arts Academy at its Breiningsville location, it is easy to hear the passion and energy in Miller's voice as he expounds on the benefits of martial arts as his students progress and grow.

Now with three different locatio   ns in the Lehigh Valley, Miller and his staff do more than illustrating the correct technique in delivering a effective strike to the chest.  They teach students self-confidence, discipline and the steps to achieve inner peace.

Children starting as young as age four with learning balance and focus with those skills before moving on to the older skills at the age of 11.

“One of our philosophies is not to give up on kids," Miller said. “We have a lot of kids with  special needs who use martial arts to help them achieve success in and out of the classroom."

In addition to a large matted room for physical activity, the facility also offers childcare for those parents in need of the service and activities to keep the kids attention.

The popularity of martial arts at LVMA, judging by their growth in facilities is attributed to the multitude of benefits martial arts training offers.

Martial arts benefits participants of all ages and genders. The clientele range from the physically fit to the physically challenged.

For adults looking for a new way to burn calories and relieve stress, check out some of the adult classes offered at one of the three locations. Impact training, strength building, meditation, energy work, cardio, vocal techniques, speed training, endurance training...where else can you do all of this in an hour?

And while they take what they do seriously, the instructors don’t appear to take themselves seriously. It is important to note however that Breiningsville location only teaches kung fu while the facility in Fogelsville teaches karate.

If you are looking for something a little bit different, the dojo in Emmaus offers lessons in the arts of quigong and Tai Chi along.
