The holdup in construction, Krause explained, was compliance issues with the state's Department of Environmental Protection.

"We've been waiting for several approvals from the DEP, which we received two weeks ago," Krause said.

Krause said the DEP required an underground detention pond for water runoff and wanted testing of the reliability of new water filtration products.

Plans were placed before Upper Macungie Township officials in late 2011. Krause said he is hopeful the new dealership will be completed by next January.

When complete, the new Krause Toyota will boast an 18-bay service area, service writing area, customer lounge, parts area, executive offices and training offices.

Site access will be from Penn Drive and provide 227 parking spaces.

The existing Krause Toyota building will be put up for sale.
