Dozens Lose Their Jobs at International Battery

Reports indicate the Upper Macungie Battery maker closed abruptly Thursday, leaving about 60 people out of work.

, which makes rechargable batteries in Upper Macungie, abruptly closed Thursday, according to The Morning Call.

One worker said employees were told Wednesday the factory would shut Thursday. Tonight, WFMZ reported that about 60 workers held jobs at the plant.

International Battery opened at 6845 Snowdrift Rd in 2008, lured here by about $4 million in tax incentives and grants from the state.
