Costco Coming to Wescosville

Developers confirm that Costco is a proposed tenant for Hamilton Crossings shopping center

Costco Wholesale - purveyor of discounts on everything from daycare items to caskets - is confirmed as a proposed tenant for the Hamilton Crossings shopping center under construction along Hamilton Boulevard in Wescosville.

In responding to a Patch story published earlier this morning, Sara Pandl, director of Planning and Community Development for Lower Macungie Township, said Costco's confirmation was announced at the July 10 meeting of the Planning Commission.

Jeremy Fogel, of the Goldenberg Group made the announcement, she said.

Plans for the shopping center have run into a few snags lately due to debris found in the remains of underground mines, but the Goldenberg Group presented its ideas for remediation and request for help with obtaining state financial help to the township Board of Commissioners on July 5.

Is the added traffic, polution and crime "awesome" as well?

No, the added traffic, polutin and crime are not good news. Although I also think Costco is a great store, along with the Target and Shoprite, it will allow expanded shopping choices without having to venture to Cedar Crest or that horrible MacArthur Rd on a weekend it is clear to me living here for many years that the folks who approve these types of things are not looking at the entire picture. Police, traffic and quality of life. Look what has happended in neighboring Upper Macungie? They rubber stamp every development and factory. Sad state of affairs.

Love it! I can't wait. We need it.

Yes, Upper Mac has added greatly to the amount of developement since the 90s. And, coming soon, a couple of million square foot warehouses on the land that Air Products just sold along Hamilton Blvd west of Aldi's. Here come the trucks! One good thing about commercial developement is an increased tax base which keeps our school taxes (somewhat) bearable.
