Carpenters Union Protests at Krause Toyota Site

Lehigh Valley Carpenters Local #600 is unhappy with Blue Rock Construction, Inc., which is subcontracting carpentry work at the Krause Toyota construction site.

Members of Lehigh Valley Carpenters Local #600 are protesting near the Krause Toyota construction site in Fogelsville, in a dispute over subcontracting work.

The three union members at the site would not talk to Patch or allow their photographs to be taken. However, they did provide Patch with a leaflet explaining their position.

The leaflet reads in part:

"Blue Rock Construction, Inc. is subcontracting carpentry work to the Bazella Group, a contractor that is destroying the wage and benefit standards of the local construction workers.

"This unknown contractor employs carpenters who are paid substantially less than the area wage and benefit standards that have been obtained by the Lehigh Valley Carpenters through countless years of struggle.

"Does the oldest Toyota dealership in the country expect to reap large profits at the expense of an underpaid workforce?"

Representatives from Blue Rock Construction, Inc. and Krause Toyota were not immediately available for comment.
