Adult Bookstore Closes After 40 Years

The adult bookstore that anchored Tilghman and Blue Barn Road in Upper Macungie has closed after 40 years.

For more than 40 years the “Adult Books” sign at Blue Barn Road and Tilghman Street in Upper Macungie was a landmark in the community.

The bookstore shared a parking lot with the Lehigh Motor Inn, but the store is now vacant, and the sign was taken down in late July, .

The owner of the store could not be reached for comment, but the owner of the property, Minou Dasai, confirmed the Adult Books store has closed after more than 40 years at that location.

Dasai also owns the and the . He said he would like to develop that parcel of land, to “demolish everything” on that lot and build something new.

There are no specific plans in the works now, he said, because the process of land development takes a long time.

Currently, there is a “For Rent” sign in the window of the former adult book store.
