ArtsQuest Center announces new slate of shows, including Graham Parker & The Rumour, The Fixx and comedian Marc Maron.

 

Graham Parker & The Rumour, comedian Marc Maron and The Fixx are among the new concerts announced for the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks.

Fowler Blast Furnace Room

Tickets: $10 in advance; $12 day of show

I Am King offers a message of truth and hope with its music, with lyrics that are as important as the music. The group’s self-titled debut EP, recorded with Taylor Larson, is currently available on iTunes.

 

AmeDeus - March 2, 7 p.m.

Fowler Blast Furnace Room

Graham Parker & The Rumour - April 5, 7:30 p.m.

In the 1970s Graham Parker & The Rumour gained acclaim for their wrathful lyrics and their music’s mix of soul, reggae and rock. In 1987, Rolling Stone listed two of the group’s albums - Squeezing Out Sparks and Howlin' Wind in its Top 100 Albums of 1967-87. After more than 30 years apart, the group reunited in 2011, releasing a new album, Three Chords Good, in November 2012.

 

The Fixx - April 13, 7:30 p.m.

Tickets: $22-$32

Best known for hits such as “One Things Leads to Another,” “Red Skies,” “Saved By Zero” and “Stand or Fall,” The Fixx formed in London in 1979 and released its debut, Shuttered Room, in 1982. In 1983 the band had its biggest hit, “One Thing Leads to Another,” which reached the Top 5 of the Billboard charts. The group’s most recent recording is Beautiful Friction, released in July 2012.

 

Marc Maron - April 19, 8 p.m.

For more than 15 years, Marc Maron has been writing and performing raw, honest and thought-provoking comedy for print, stage, radio and television. He has appeared on HBO, Conan, Letterman, his two Comedy Central Presents specials and more. Maron’s podcast, “WTF with Marc Maron,” featuring in-depth interviews with comedy icons like Judd Apatow, Robin Williams and Ben Stiller, premiered in September 2009 and now averages 230,000 listeners per week. The show hits No. 1 on the iTunes comedy charts regularly and has been downloaded by 8.5 million people since its inception.
