'Big Bang Theory' to Feature Local Actress

Nazareth-area actress Kate Micucci will start a role on 'Big Bang Theory' on Valentine's Day

Lehigh Valley actress Kate Micucci has been cast in a recurring role on "The Big Bang Theory" as "a potential love interest for the confirmed bachelor Raj," according to the Hollywood Reporter and Wikipedia.

The Hollywood Reporter says she will make her debut on the Valentine's Day episode of the CBS comedy in two weeks.

Born in New Jersey and raised in the Nazareth area, Micucci appeared in five episodes of "Scrubs" and has had guest roles on "Malcolm in the Middle," "'Til Death" and " How I Met Your Mother."

Micucci has appeared in 10 movies and performs in Los Angeles as half of the musical duo "Garfunkel and Oates." She also performs the musical-comedy act "Playin' with Miccuci" at the Steve Allen Theater in L.A.

Miccuci has more than 29,000 likes on Facebook, where fans are congratulating her on her "Big Bang Role."

Kate was born in New Jersey and spent most of her school years in Pennsylvania. As a kid she focused on playing outside in the woods and playing classical piano.

In college she majored in art, focusing on painting and making puppets. She received an A.A. in Fine Arts from Keystone College.

After a small stint watering banana and pineapple plants in Hawaii, Kate decided to go to Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where she made more puppets and received a B.A. in Studio Art.

Currently Kate resides in Los Angeles where she has a steady gig building sandcastles. She also works as an actor and can be found around town playing the ukulele.
