Walk For Apraxia Is Saturday at Lone Lane Park

The walk, in Upper Macungie's Lone Lane Park, is designed to raise awareness for the condition of motor speech disorder.

The second annual Allentown Walk for Apraxia Children With Apraxia Speech is scheduled for this Saturday at in Upper Macungie Township, according to a report in The Morning Call.

The report says Apraxia is a little-known motor speech disorder that affects a child's ability to produce speech.

The report concentrates on a Fogelsville family who has two sons with the disorder. Their mother says the walk is to raise awareness for the disorder and top the $7,500 raised last year.

This year’s walk begins at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The cost is $20 for walkers 18 and older and $10 for walkers under 18.  There will be games for kids as well as a DJ playing children’s music. For more information see www.apraxia-kids.org/allentownwalk.
