Its said that one donation can save three lives per in time it takes to give a pint of blood.
Today, June 14, is World Blood Donor day
Here are some facts concerning blood donations and blood shortages:
-- Less than 10 percent of Americans donate blood annually
-- 93 million pints were collected last year worldwide; 14 million in the United States.
-- If just one percent more of Americans donated, the national blood shortages would disappear for the foreseeable future.
-- One person can save up to three lives with a single donation
-- Every two seconds someone needs blood. The constant need is met by volunteers across the country who make the choice to donate and save the lives of others.
