Support Groups Starting for Victims of Sexual Assault and Abuse

The Crime Victims Council of the Lehigh Valley is offering free support groups for those who have been sexual assault or abused and their parents.

The Crime Victims Council of Lehigh Valley, Inc. is offering three new support groups at no cost. One group will meet in Allentown and two in Easton.

One of the groups will be a resiliency forum for women, 18 or older, who have been sexually assaulted or sexually abused. This group will meet the second Tuesday of every month, beginning January 10th, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Crime Victims Council's Easton office at 1555 Northampton Street.

A second group meeting at the Easton office is for parents or caregivers of children who have been sexually assaulted or abused.  This group will meet weekly for 10 sessions, starting Monday, January 30th, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.  An appointment for an intake interview is required prior to the first session of each group and referrals for potential participants are welcome, according to the council.  Those interested can call the Easton office at 610-250-6313, Monday through Friday, during daytime hours to schedule an interview.
