Memorial Day Photo: Fogelsville's Silent Sentinel
Stoic soldier guards Fogelsville Cemetery
Time and the elements are wearing away the face of a stoic soldier who stands guard in Fogelsville Union Cemetery of St. John's United Church of Christ on Church Street in Fogelsville.
The soldier stands atop a monument to Fogelsville's war dead, including men who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Their names are engraved on the memorial.
On Memorial Day, a ceremony at the cemetery will honor all those who have served our country and gave the ultimate sacrifice defending freedom and liberty throughout the world.
