Hurricane Sandy Relief Concert at Musikfest Cafe Nov. 30

Susan Cowsill and Todd Wolfe to headline at Nov. 30 concert for Superstorm Sandy victims. American Bank will match concert proceeds for Red Cross Disaster Relief.

Susan Cowsill and the Todd Wolfe Band headline the Lehigh Valley Concert for the Cause, a benefit show for the victims of Hurricane Sandy, on Friday, November 30 from 6:30-10 p.m. at the ArtsQuest Center’s Musikfest Café at SteelStacks.

Tickets for the show, which will benefit American Red Cross Disaster Relief, are $15 and $20 and are on sale at www.artsquest.org and 610-332-3378.

The artists and ArtsQuest are partnering with American Bank and the Red Cross for this benefit concert. American Bank has offered to match donations to American Red Cross Disaster Relief up to $50,000 through Dec. 31.

ArtsQuest will donate 100 percent of proceeds from the Lehigh Valley Concert for the Cause. Proceeds from the concert will help people recovering from disasters like floods, tornadoes and wildfires, as well as countless crises at home and around the world.

Cowsill, who will perform at 8:30 p.m., first entered the pop culture spotlight at age 8 as the youngest member of the ’60s musical family The Cowsills.

In 2005 Cowsill made her solo debut with Just Believe It. However, the album's creative triumph was overshadowed by the intrusion of real-life events -- namely the deaths of her brothers Billy and Barry, and the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, which temporarily displaced Cowsill and her family from her adopted hometown of New Orleans. The tribulations of the past few years resonate throughout Cowsill’s latest release, 2010’s Lighthouse.

Wolfe, who will take the stage at 9:30 p.m., began playing on the New York scene in 1979 with his band Troy & the Tornados, performing in rooms such as the Lone Star Cafe, The Ritz, My Father's Place, Lamour's, The Chance, Tramps and the Rodeo Bar.

A relocation to the West Coast in the ’90s led him to work with Sheryl Crow for the better part of the decade before he moved back to this region, where he has been an integral part of the music scene ever since.

Other Lehigh Valley Concert for the Cause performers include Cunningham and Associates, This Way to the Egress, Donovan Roberts, the students of Hawk Music, the students of Doc's West End Music, The School of Rock and the Students of The Lesson Center.

During the show, The Lesson Center will be collecting new or used musical instruments in good, working condition to be distributed to music schools throughout the region that were hit by Hurricane Sandy. Instruments that will be accepted include acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitars, banjos, keyboards, violins, violas, cellos, brass and woodwind instruments, drums and cymbals.
