This week we offer ideas for enjoying the first weekend of Spring. Get out and get some sun! What are your plans for the weekend? We always welcome your comments and suggestions of how to entertain the little ones!

* Enjoy the Sunshine with Wild Animals

When/Where: Seven days a week from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. (weather permitting) at the Lehigh Valley Zoo

Why Go: With warmer days on the horizon, as well as the official start of Spring, take your little one(s) out for the day to enjoy all the fun that the zoo has to offer. Pack a picnic lunch to make a full day of it.

Pricing: $7.75 for ages 2 and up until the season begins April 1.

* Check out the Annual Spring Colors Festival

When/Where: Saturday, March 19 at Parkland High School from 1:30 pm. until 5 p.m.

Why Go: Grab the kids and head to this fun event geared towards elementary and middle school students This event utilizes music, dance, food, arts and crafts, athletics, and educational displays to promote multicultural acceptance. The PHS Cultural Awareness Club sponsors this with participation by many other Parkland High School clubs.

Pricing: Free.

* Cool down with a cool treat

When/Where: Monday through Saturday from 9 until 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at

Why Go: The Shoppes of Premise Maid include their ice creamery. The temperatures towards the end of the week will be in the mid-high 60's so what better way to welcome Spring than to enjoy ice cream from one of the best local creameries. Enjoy their Triple Chocolate Sin, Peanut Butter Tandy Kake, Macadamia Butter Brickle or Black Forest Raspberry Cream while sitting outside on their patio or inside the shoppe. And of course there's also the bakery and chocolate shoppe to explore.

Pricing: Varies.

* Drop-in Storytime for kids up to age 5

When/Where: on Friday, March 18 from 10:30 a.m.  until 11 a.m.

Why Go: What better way to start the day than to visit the local library. Afterwards head to a local playground to enjoy the weather – they’re calling for 61 degrees on Thursday and 69 on Friday.

Pricing: Free.

* Celebrate Bounce-U’s Birthday

When/Where: Sunday, March 20 at Bounce-U. They’ll have two 45 minute sessions: 5 and 6:30 p.m.

Why Go: Celebrate s 5th Birthday and help the community at the same time. Reservations are strongly recommended as the party is free and can be made through their website or by calling 610-841-7088.

Pricing: The party is free, but on behalf of families in need they ask that you please bring a non-perishable food item (one per guest) to donate to Lehigh Valley food banks.
