Address: You can start your tour at Bogert's Bridge at Oxford Drive (24th Street), Allentown, as suggested by the Lehigh Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau, or anywhere along the tour. 

Admission: Free (except for the cost of gas)

Hours: Daytime is best.

Summary: Self-guided tour of the Lehigh Valley's covered bridges, many of which you'll find in South Whitehall and North Whitehall townships. You can visit all seven, which is a 50-mile tour, or just a few. Here are the bridges on the tour: Bogert's Bridge, built in 1841 (pedestrian traffic only); Wehr's Covered Bridge, built in 1841; Manasses Guth Bridge, built in 1858; Rex's Covered Bridge, built in 1848; Geiger's Covered Bridge, built in 1860; Schlicher's Covered Bridge, built in 1882 (currently closed to traffic), and Kreidersville Covered Bridge, built in 1839.

The bridges have a romantic quality. The two in South Whitehall frame Covered Bridge Park, where you can take a walk and enjoy the scenic beauty. German immigrants brought the bridge design to this country. Often the bridges were named after local residents, their builders or the grist mills that operated along the nearby creeks.
