Three local attractions you can visit on one tank of gas.

Try one of these three trips you can enjoy on just one tank of gas: the Boulton Historic Site in Bushkill Township, the Wings of Freedom Museum in Horsham and Heisler's Dairy in Tamaqua.

1. Boulton Historic Site's Opening Day

Summary: The Boulton Historic Site, which is administered by the Jacobsburg Historical Society, gives visitors a peek inside the life of the Henry Family and the Boulton Gun Works through self-guided tours and historical programs. During your tour, see objects owned by five generations of Henrys in the 1832 John Joseph Henry House, learn about the role of the longrifle in American history at the Pennsylvania Longrifle Museum, watch a gunsmith make a longrifle in the period Nicholas Hawk Gun Shop, and sample early American open hearth cooking in the summer kitchen. The Wings of Freedom Museum

About: The Wings of Freedom Museum features a collection of preserved aircraft and aviation artifacts. Aircrafts such as the Bell H-13 "Sioux" and the North American FJ-4B "Fury" are on display, in addition to clothing and medal displays and an interactive cockpit simulator. Guided tours are available, and a gift shop with T-shirts and model planes is on premises. Currently, the exhibit contains 14 aircraft and nearly 40 display cases with separate focuses on World War I, the Pitcairn Era, World War II, the Tuskegee Airmen, the Cold War, Women in Aviation, Korea, Southeast Asia, and contemporary aviation and space exploration.

3. Heisler's Dairy

  • The dairy bar is open April through mid-October. Hours vary. Call (570) 668-3399 for more information.

Summary: Heisler's Dairy features 40 flavors of country-fresh ice cream made on the premises. Located among the rolling hills of Schuylkill County, the dairy property includes two 18-hole miniature golf courses, a driving range and the Kiddieland game arcade. For nature lovers, the dairy has 14 bird houses that are home to more than 100 pair of breeding purple martins. The dairy was founded in 1924 and the dairy bar opened in 1957.
