Regional trout fishing season begins March 30. Here's everything you need to know to prepare for the trout season in Upper Macungie.

Trout season is fast approaching in Lehigh County with state and local officials getting ready for the annual rush of anglers who are anxious to test the waters.

The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission has announced its plans to stock local waters in the Upper Macungie area with both brown and rainbow trout.

Historically, Upper Macungie Township stocks the Ponds at Apple Park in Fogelsville with trout for the pleasure of local anglers.

The regional opening day of trout season is Saturday, March 30.

However, prior to heading out, several state rules and regulations must be followed before you can bait that hook or rig that lure.

A regular state fishing license costs $22.70, but if you want to catch trout, the cost is an additional $9.70 for a trout stamp.

Here are the full list of rules and regulations concerning trout fishing season from the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission website.

According to the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, approved trout waters in Lehigh County include Cedar Creek (Lake Muhlenberg outflow downstream to mouth), Coplay Creek, Jordan Creek, Kistler Creek, Laurel Run (South Branch Saucon Creek), Lehigh Canal (from first lock upstream of Monocacy Creek Crossing), Little Lehigh Creek, Monocacy Creek, Ontelaunee Creek, Swabia Creek, Switzer Creek and Trout Creek (Big Trout Creek-Slatington).
