6 to 10 Inches of Snow Possible Thursday Night

The National Weather Service warns of dangerous cold and blowing and drifting snow.

A winter storm is expected to dump 6 inches to 10 inches of snow on the Lehigh Valley from Thursday night into Friday morning.

The National Weather Service issued the winter storm warning for 1 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday, with blowing and drifting snow and dangerous cold expected.

Some snow is possible Thursday morning and early afternoon, but most of the snow is expected at night and into Friday morning.

The National Weather Services warns that travel will be hazardous, with wind gusts up to 30 mph and snow falling almost an inch per hour in the height of the storm. Visibility will be poor, and road plowing operations will be affected because of blowing and drifting snow, it said.

Temperatures will drop into the teens and single digits overnight, the weather service said. The very cold temperatures and gusty winds will create dangerous wind chillls of 5 below to 20 below zero, the weather service said.
