Water parks, ice cream, cold java, wine tastings and admiring Mother Nature are ways to the beat the heat this week.

Summer's first full week is shaping up to be a hot one in Upper Macungie.

The National Weather Service says temperatures will top out at or near the 90-degree mark through Thursday with humid conditions.

So, what can you do to beat the heat in the Upper Macungie area? Here's a a few tricks we found for you.

1. Terry Hill Water Park: The water park, located at 10000 Hamilton Blvd. in Breinigsville, offers five different water attractions, according to its web site. The park is open Monday through Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

2. Premise Maid Ice Cream: Stop in and cool off with a ice cream treat at Premise Maid. Its quaint 18th century farmhouse is nestled amongst the rolling farmland in Breinigsville. Their barn has been converted to a  creamery that produces 44 flavors of ice cream and frozen yogurt, including two sugar free flavors.

3. Java Joint: Are you a coffee fanatic who just cant get enough java, but don't want it warm in this heat and humidity? Try one of Java Joint's many iced coffees and other cold blended drinks for a refreshing change.

4. Wine Tasting: Get out of the heat at either one of two Breinigsville wineries, Vynecrest and Clover Hill Wineries.  Stop in for a tasting at one, or both of these local wineries, kick back and enjoy your beverages in air-conditioned comfort.

5. Fogelsville Dam: Fogelsville Dam Park is a 50.7-acre open space with hiking trails that wind through Hassen Creek. Take a walk or a car ride up to the dam, stay in the shade and admire Mother Nature at work.
