Thursday in Upper Mac: School Orientations and Match 6 Jackpot

St. Paul's UCC Church in Trexlertown holds its Thursday night worship service and the Upper Macungie Recreation Board meets at 7 p.m.

Thursday, Aug, 29 is expected to feature partly sunny skies with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon and a high temperature of 85 degrees, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Here's what's going on in and around Upper Macungie Township Thursday:

Orientations continue in anticipation of the first day of school on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Here is the schedule for Thursday.

  • Fogelsville Elementary School:  Thursday, 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. (new students) and 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. (returning students)
  • Springfield and Orefield Middle School New Student Orientation: Thursday. Bus picks up students at regular time noted on bus cards. Students depart home at 10:45 a.m.
  • Nobody won Monday's Pennsylvania Lottery’s Match 6 Lotto jackpot, so it keeps rolling ever higher into record territory. The jackpot for Thursday's drawing has grown to $4.6 million, the game’s third-largest jackpot on record. The current jackpot run started after one ticket matched all six winning numbers in the May 13 drawing. Match 6 tickets cost $2 each.   • St. Paul's UCC Church in Trexlertown will hold an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at 2 p.m. and a Worship service at 7 p.m. Thursday.
  • The Valley Preferred Cycling Centerlocated at 1151 Mosser Road in Breinigsville, offers the Elite Motor Pacing practice sessions at 10 a.m. and BRL practice session at 4:30 p.m.
  • The Upper Macungie Recreation Board will meet at 7 p.m. in the township meeting room, located at 8330 Schantz Road.
