Randy Oxford Band to Perform at Crocodile Rock Cafe
Randy Oxford, Legendary Blues Cruise Host, Brings Band to Crocodile Rock Cafe and Beyond
The Randy Oxford Band from the Pacific Northwest will continue their U.S. East Coast tour this summer with a concert at the Crocodile Rock Cafe, Thursday, July 19, from 8- midnight. The seven-piece band features the award-winning Oxford on trombone and multiple vocalists, backed by a stellar collection of musicians - each a virtuoso in his/her own right. The interplay between the performers provides the audience with something entertaining to watch, as well as to hear.
Although essentially blues-based, The Randy Oxford Band prides itself on showcasing music that defies easy classification. From classics like Etta’s “At Last,” to originals that crackle with jazz licks and funky rhythms, the band prefers to define itself, building upon each player’s creativity and talent. Randy and his band are looking forward to furthering their reputation for presenting high-energy shows, with well-crafted musical arrangements, inspired solos, and a spirited sense of fun.
Their performance at the Crocodile Rock Cafe follows their appearance at the North Atlantic Blues Fest on July 14. Other appearances include shows at Fort Allen Park on the Eastern Promenade in Portland, ME, Chan’s in Woonsocket, RI, Bobbique on Long Island, NY, Club Metronome in Burlington, VT, The Blue Note in NYC, and a final show at The Big Easy in Portland, ME.
The band is touring in support of their critically acclaimed CD, “Festival,” which has received extensive airplay throughout the country. The Randy Oxford Band earned a spot in the finals at the International Blues Challenge in 2011, resulting in appearances last year at Le Festival International de Tremblant, two successful tours of the mid-west, and up-coming shows at the San Diego Blues Festival, Bronze, Blues, and Brews Festival (Oregon), the Big Sky Blues Festival (Montana) and more.
