Valley Preferred's Heilman Named Wellness Coach

Kacie Heilman of Valley Preferred has been appointed wellness coach for a corporate health education program.

No Jobs Lost as Nestle Waters Outsources Some Deliveries

Nestle Waters is outsourcing its five-gallon Breinigsville distribution route, according to a report. The affected employees will be offered other jobs.

No jobs will be lost and no plants will closing when Nestle Waters eliminates its five-gallon delivery routes from Breinigsville in July, according to a report by Lehigh Valley Business.com. Nestle Waters is outsourcing the five-gallon delivery service beginning July 1, the report said. The nine affected employees will be offered other jobs in the company, the report said.

Dozens of properties to be sold at monthly Lehigh County sheriff's sale on Friday

Dozens of properties are on the list for Friday's monthly Lehigh County Sheriff's sale. The list includes an opening bid and a total of back taxes owed on each property.  Sales are held starting at 10 a.m. in Room 131 on the first floor of the Lehigh County Courthouse, Fifth and Hamilton Streets, Allentown. The sale is a public auction and buyers must bid for properties, which are not available for inspection prior to the sale. More information is available on Lehigh County's website.

Hibachi Grill Supreme Buffet has opened at 1053 Grape Street near the Whitehall Mall. The restaurant features 11 buffets with more than 250 items including Japanese, Chinese and American food with hibachi-style grilling. Specialty items include hibachi chicken, beef tenderloin and Italian shrimp. Kid-friendly options include pizza. There's a dessert bar with fresh fruit, pastries and cookies, along with an ice cream bar. The restaurant includes a large private room for special occasions. 'Protectionist' Funeral Home Rules Struck Down by Judge

A federal judge struck down 11 state regulations on funeral homes in Pennsylvania.

By Eric Boehm | PA Independent HARRISBURG—After a four-year court battle, wide swaths of state regulations for funeral homes were swept aside last year by a federal judge who ruled them anti-competitive and protectionist. In a May 2012 ruling, Judge John E. Jones struck down 11 provisions of Pennsylvania’s Funeral Director Law as unconstitutional, including a requirement that funeral homes build expensive and often unnecessary preparation rooms, a prohibition serving food inside a funeral home and several regulations concerning the ownership, operation and names of funeral homes. Hops Renovations Targeted for May Completion

The exterior of the historic Fogelsville building is being completely remodeled in stucco and work on the interior dining rooms will soon follow.

Scott Hoppy of Hops Fogelsville Hotel says he's ready for the scaffolding to come off the building. The historic landmark and the winner of multiple Patch "Reader's choice" polls for food and drink has remained open during a full-scale renovation of the exterior of the building. "We're just continuing major renovations, to keep the charm of the building and and to make the corner of the neighborhood look pretty, Hoppy said. The outdoor work is slated for completion in mid-May, Hoppy said. Byron and Carol Hoppy and their son, Scott, who bought the place in 2006, have already made many improvements to restore and renovate the property at the crossroads of Main and Church streets that dates back to 1798. Realtors are holding Nationwide Open House this weekend and hundreds of homes will be open for tours in the Lehigh Valley.

The Lehigh Valley Association of Realtors (LVAR) will participte in Nationwide Open House on Saturday and Sunday with hundreds of real estate open houses scheduled across the Valley. LVAR CEO Ryan Conrad says affordablity of homes in the Lehigh Valley is high with most of the homes sold in March going for less than $150,000.

CyOptics Purchased by California Company

The Breinigsville fiber-optics company is being obtained by California-based Avago Technologies for $400 million. No jobs are expected to be lost, the company said.

CyOptics, a Breinigsville-based fiber-optics company located in Tek Park, is being sold to California-based Avago Technologies of San Jose, Calif., according to a press release. The purchase price of the privately-held company is $400 million. The acquisition was announced late last week. "We are delighted to join Avago," said CyOptics CEO Ed Coringrato in the release. ""We believe this transaction presents tremendous opportunities for our customers and our employees." The release said the company employs 875 people, 335 of which are in Breinigsville. Coringrato said in the release that no jobs will be lost due to the sale of the company. According to a Philly.com article, CyOptics intended to go public last year in order to raise $100 …
