Weis Markets took the first step in its quest to build a Gas-N-Go fuel station in Fogelsville, when it received a use variance for the property Wednesday night from the Upper Macungie Zoning Hearing Board.
Zoning officer Daren Martocci said the proposed gas station received the use variance as an accessory use for the property at Route 100 and Glenlivet Drive West, where the current supermarket stands.
Martocci said Weis will now need to come forward with land development plans that must be approved by the Upper Macungie Planning Board.
Ultimately, the township supervisors will have the last word on the project once planners give their recommendation.
No timetable has been set for construction, Martocci said, as the township has not received any land developement plans.
Officials from Weis did not return phone calls on the matter.
