This Week In Parkland: Feb. 27 Through March 3

Here's a look at what's happening in the Parkland School District this week.

  • Feb. 27, Fifth Grade Parents Night, 7 p.m.  Parents of fifth graders are invited to learn about what to expect in sixth grade surrounding the curriculum and team instruction as well as the transition from elementary to middle school.  This program occurs in both Parkland middle schools simultaneously.
  • Feb. 28: School Board Meeting, , 1210 Springhouse Road, Allentown.
  • Feb. 29: Boys Basketball District 11 semifinal playoff: Parkland vs. Emmaus, 7:30 p.m. at Freedom High School.
  • March 2, Sixth Annual Parkland Partners District-wide Food Drive Culminating Event, Parkland High School Auxiliary Gym, 10 a.m.  Students and staff members from joined together to collect items for Second Harvest Food Bank during the district’s sixth Annual District-wide community service event.  The result is a 15,000+ item donation. After loading the trucks, students will depart to tour the food bank and learn about hunger in the Lehigh Valley, how their food collection will be distributed, as well as how the food bank works to feed 50,000 people each month in our local region.
  • March 2, Read Across America Day, all day in all elementary buildings.  Middle school students will read to elementary students in celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday and Read Across America Day.  Activities range from cooking green eggs and ham to making Cat in the Hat hats along with guest readers in all buildings.
