The Fate of Berks-Lehigh Police Could be Decided Tonight
The Berks-Lehigh Regional Police Commission meets tonight to discuss disbanding the police department.
The Berks-Lehigh Police Commission meets tonight at 7 p.m. in Maxatawny. The life of the regional police force is at stake.
Maxatawny Supervisors voted March 7 to disband the Department that covers Maxatawny, Topton and Lyons in Berks County and Upper Macungie Township in Lehigh.
That came a week after Upper Macungie supervisors voted to leave membership in the force.
Police Chief Roger Heins said that chances are the force will disband by the end of the year. But the other municipalities have yet to be heard from.
