Upper Macungie Station 56 opened its doors to the community Tuesday as part of Fire Prevention Week.

About 150 people turned out to tour the firehouse and see demonstrations on fire safety and vehicle rescues.

Fogelsville Volunteer Fire Company and Goodwill Fire Company Station 25 participated with their aerial and ladder trucks.

The event also was an opportunity for township residents to meet their local volunteer firefighters.

Some constructive feedback. Why would you do such an event on a weekday in the dark? Young children would have loved and appreciated this and you would have had more opportunity to solicit people to volunteer or get other information on a weekend. Poor planning on this one folks.
