Fire Truck Proceeds Go To Replacement Fund

Anytime the township buys a truck from one of the volunteer fire companies, the proceeds will go into a replacement fund.

Township fire departments will see the proceeds from sold fire trucks placed in a replacement fund, thanks to a resolution passed Thursday by Upper Macungie Supervisors.

Supervisors noted that fire trucks in the township are hard-used and when the township decides to buy them from the volunteer fire companies, the monies will go toward a replacement vehicle.

"Fire trucks are used very hard, some harder than others," said Supervisor Sam Ashmar. "The township can't afford three trucks in one year. We try to keep them 30 years, but if the township buys the truck, the funds will go into the replacement fund."
