A Wescosville-area bank was robbed Monday afternoon by a man who handed a teller a note demanding "all the money," according to police.
A black man entered the KNBT bank at 5700 Hamilton Blvd. in Lower Macungie at 2:45 p.m. and gave a teller the note, according to state police at Fogelsville. Police did not say whether the robber had or implied that he had a weapon. No description was provided Monday.
The teller complied with the demand, police said. As is generally the case with a bank robbery, police did not disclose -- if an inventory had been taken in time -- how much money was obtained in the robbery.
The man left the immediate area on foot, but fled the area in an undetermined direction, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 610-395-1438.
What is thought to be the last Lower Macungie bank robbery ended in a guilty plea that netted a Berks County man three to five years in jail. Corey Scott Angstadt of Temple is serving a state prison term as a result of robbing the TD Bank branch at 5980 Hamilton Blvd. on April 25, 2011. Then 43, he was arrested three days later.
Angstadt about 7:15 p.m. pulled up to a drive-thru window and told a teller that he had sent an explosive device through the service tube and wanted money in exchange for not detonating the device. He was given money.

Bank employees need protection from injury or death. They mostly all sit out in the open easily assessable to anyone wishing them harm. All you need do is reach over the counter or across the desk. Some branches look more like a person’s living room and that should not be the case. They work hard for little money and deserve better protection.

All bank tellers and employees should be protected by bullet proof glass and in all bigger cities.
