Poll Positions Drawn For May 17 Primary Election
Upper Macungie Supervisor, Parkland School Board and Magisterial District Judge seats are up for grabs.
The Lehigh County Bureau of Elections and candidates for office drew ballot positions on Tuesday for the May 17 primary, including ballot positions for Upper Macungie Township Supervisor and Parkland School Board.
In the race for the six-year Upper Macungie Supervisor term, incumbent Kathy Rader drew the top spot on the Repbulican ticket. Challenger Joseph J. Corcoran drew the second slot on the Democratic ticket.
The Upper Macungie Township Auditor six-year term drew one candidate, Carl F. Schmoyer, Jr., who is running unopposed on the Republican ticket.
The three candidates running for Magisterial District Judge in District 31-3-02 have all cross-filed and will appear on both Republican and Democratic tickets.
On the Republican ballot, Michael Faulkner drew the top spot, followed by Ronald Clever and Kathleen Palmer. The order on the Democratic side is Faulkner on top again followed by Palmer second and Clever third.
Five seats are open on the Parkland School Board. David M. Kennedy will get the top position on the Republican ballot, and Debra Y. Evans will get the top position on the Democratic ballot.
Conventional wisdom says that those who get the top spots do better in the polls, though many say that advantage has been diminished with electronic voting.
Four of the six Parkland School Board candidates running in the primary have cross-filed, which means they will appear on both the Democratic and Republican ballots.
The school board candidates will appear on the Republican ballot in the following order:
David M. Kennedy (Republican)
Roy Jef Reyburn (Republican)
Roberta Marcus (Republican)
Robert Bold (Democrat)
The school board candidates will appear on the Democratic ballot in the following order:
Debra Y. Evans (no party affiliation)
David M. Kennedy
In the race for four, at-large Lehigh County Commissioner seats, eight Republicans and four Democrats are seeking their party's nomination.
In the Republican primary, the candidates will appear on the ballot in the following order, according to the election bureau website:
Norma A. Cusick
Dean N. Browning
David C. Najarian
In the Democratic primary for Lehigh County Commissioners, the candidates will appear on the ballot in the following order:
Geoffrey S. Brace
Dennis L. Pearson
Timothy S. Waitkus
Candidates for all the offices have until March 23 to withdraw from the races, if they so choose.
