Police Management Team Sworn In
Upper Macungie Township swears in Police Chief Edgardo Colon and two lieutenants to begin the process of starting up the new police department.
Upper Macungie Township took the first step in beginning its police department Monday by swearing in Police Chief Edgardo Colon and Lieutenants Michael Sitoski and Joe Wilson.
A swearing-in ceremony was held Monday in the township meeting room with District Judge Michael Faulkner presiding.
"I'm anxious and eager to work with this great team to get the ball rolling to put all of our energy and efforts into organizing and planning the final end stage components of this police department," Colon said.
Sitoski, a 12-year veteran of the Berks-Lehigh Regional Police Department, said he is very excited about the challenge.
Wilson, a retired Pennsylvania state trooper, will head up the criminal investigation and administrative team.
"My retirement was very short," he quipped. "I'm very excited and eager to begin work."
The Upper Macungie Police Department is scheduled to begin work on Jan. 1, 2013. It has already hired 25 officers and is actively seeking candidates for a September examination.
