Runners and sponsors are still being sought for the Upper Macungie Run/Walk for Parks, a 5K run and 1-mile walk slated for Sunday, Oct. 7 at 9 a.m. at Lone Lane Park.

All proceeds from the event will benefit parks and recreation in the township. The focus this year is the completion of the township's dog park in Upper Macungie Park on Route 100.

The 5K race, which will be limited to 200 runners, will begin at 9 a.m. at Lone Lane Park. The Fun Run/Walk will start at 9:15 a.m. Registration for runners is $25 per person.

Amazon.com Fulfillment, which operates a facility in the township, has signed on as the presenting sponsor of the event.

Efforts to support the park system in the township are aided by the Friends of Upper Macungie Township Parks and Recreation Inc., which will be accepting the donations and sponsorships. 

Donations, volunteers and sponsors are currently being sought.
