OMG PD: Girlfriend Hit with Half Gallon of Ice Cream
Here's a round-up of unusual police news from the Lehigh Valley.
Couple steals 2 cop cars, leads wild chase, police say: Two stolen police cars plus two high-speed chases in two cities in two states added up to a mountain of charges filed against Shayna Sykes and Blake Bills, a Macungie couple who allegedly went on a drug-fueled joy ride through Camden and Philadelphia on Tuesday. Camden Police Chief Scott Thomson called Sykes and Bills the “junkie version of Bonnie and Clyde.”
Man hits girlfriend with half gallon of ice cream, police say: An argument over a cell phone Wednesday night led a Palmer Township man to hit his girlfriend on the head with a half-gallon of ice cream outside a Wilson supermarket, according to court records.
Ex-District Judge candidate posed as District Judge in insurance case, police say: A Bethlehem man who in 2011 ran—and lost—a District Judge race has been charged with impersonating a public servant after he allegedly told his insurance company he was a district judge, according to court documents. Justin R. Serfass, 24, of 1345 Martin Court, was arraigned by District Judge Jacob Hammond in South Whitehall.
Manhunt for driver in fatal Brooklyn crash ends at Bethlehem mini-mart: A three-day manhunt for the alleged driver in a hit-and-run crash in Brooklyn that killed a young pregnant woman and her husband ended Wednesday in Bethlehem. Julio Acevedo surrendered to New York City police in a Turkey Hill parking lot in South Bethlehem. The couple's child had been delivered following the crash but subsequently died.
Man peeing at Wal-Mart had stun and flare guns, police say: Police allegedly spotted a Monroe County man urinating on the parking lot of Walmart in Lower Nazareth Township and discovered he had a stun gun and a flare gun. The gun problem? The man was not allowed to have guns because of previous burglary convictions in New York, court records say.
McDonald's receipt led police to alleged burglars: A McDonald’s receipt found at the site of a home burglary helped lead police to a Moore Township man accused of selling methamphetamine to a confidential source as well as participating in the burglary with a neighbor, according to court records.

Where can you still pick-up a half-gallon of ice cream?! All my favorites are down to 1-1/2 quarts.

I would like to know why a man on Lisa Ln In South Whitehall shot himself in the face in his garage on Monday at 7 p.m. 3/11/13 and it was in the Morning Call but does not appear on the Police Blotter here. Also, the house # & the man's name were omitted from the M.C. article, even though 4 patrol cars were here and the ambulance took him to the hospital. Supposedly, it was an accident. I would like to know why no one was concerned about the fact that he HAD a loaded gun in the garage in a very family oriented neighborhood. The police spent HOURS searching for the bullet. This is a twin home. Small properties. He could have shot anyone passing by. Why the cover up?

Blue Bell Ice-cream - still sold in half gallons and pints! Some of the best stuff I've ever had. At the advice of a colleague, I visited their farm and plant during the brief time that I lived in Texas. Sadly, they said they probably wouldn't ever expand too far, though I have seen them in a few other states I've stayed in. http://www.bluebell.com/what_were_crankin_out/our_ice_cream.html
