Man Killed in Route 222 Crash
An Allentown man died on Route 222 in Upper Macungie early Saturday morning when he collided with a tractor-trailer.
Walid M. Rasul, of 924 W. Tilghman St. in Allentown, was pronounced dead at 2:04 a.m. at the scene of a car accident on Route 222 in Upper Macungie Township.
Deputy Lehigh County Coroner Craig Hanzl said the cause of death was from multiple blunt force injuries, and it was ruled an accident, according to the coroner’s office.
Rasul, 31, had collided with a tractor-trailer Saturday morning about a half-mile South of Mill Creek Road.
Rasul had several arrests on his record, most recently – in 2011 – for driving without a license, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, in 2009 for careless driving and driving without a license, according to court records.
According to Berks-Lehigh Police, Rasul crossed into the southbound lane and hit the truck. The truck driver was treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, but no word on the extent of the driver's injuries.
