LANTA Adds Service To Amazon.com Warehouse

The move alleviates some of the traffic headaches around the Breinigsville facility.

The Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority (LANTA) and Breinigsville-based Amazon.com have combined to make it easier for employees to get to work, according to a report on Lehigh Valley Live.

The report states that LANTA has added two more round trips daily to the Route 213 bus that services the area and that 50-to-60 employees are taking advantage of the increased mass transit service.

Upper Macungie Township supervisors have had concerns about the Amazon.com fulfillment center since it opened in Breinigsville last year, particularly about traffic headaches along Route 100.

Supervisors have met with Amazon.com officials during the past year to discuss ways to alleviate the traffic created by the fulfillment center.

Supervisor Kathy Rader said mass transit was one of the suggestions they discussed with Amazon.com.

"We're glad they're doing it," Rader said. "One of the things we were kicking around was mass transit, instead of everyone driving."

No one at LANTA or at Amazon.com were immediately available for comment.
