Kids Hurt When Bus Crashes After Leaving Dorney Park

A bus with about 30 students on board crashed following a trip to Dorney Park

A bus carrying about 30 students crashed around 6 p.m. Friday after leaving Dorney Park. The bus is from the Pennridge Regional School District in Perkasie, Bucks County.

There were no serious injuries, according to Trooper Jeremy Temple of the Fogeslville state police barracks. About 15 people were taken to local hospitals - seven to St Luke's Hospital and eight to Lehigh Valley Hospital's Cedar Crest campus.

The bus hit a light pole on the ramp from Hamilton Boulevard to Interstate 78 in Lower Macungie Township.

Police say three buses were on Hamilton Boulevard/Route 222 waiting at a traffic light. The first bus made it through the light as the green arrow changed to solid green. The second bus crashed when making a hard left to avoid an oncoming red sedan driving northbound.

The bus driver will be cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic, police said. The bus has major front-end damage.

I'm glad they weren't hurt seriously. I have to wonder what the educational value in a trip to Dorney Park is.

What is the relevance of the educational value? These are kids hurt in a crash after going on their senior trip! School is also about...I'm sick and tired of people not realizing that!!

Courtney - you are right
school these days is ridiculous - 180 days of learning???? and can someone please assign more homework!!!!! push our kids now or we are doomed for failure......anyone hiring college seniors these days? They can type on a keyboard but in "textese" - and god forbid you ask them to work late......holy mackerel - parents are to blame. You folks in McMansions have to stop giving your kids everything and make them work for their ipods etc.... we're dying and you don't even see it....

Lol you obviously have no concept of the educational system and complety misunderstood my point. Perhaps you'd be a good candidate for more education to enlighten yourself on the human psyche and how "fun" can help one in their educational persuits. Sitting in a classroom having work shoved down your throat isn't the answer. Indeed the system needs to improve but the way our country is going about it is wrong. I HOPE those kids had fun on their trip and have fun when the go on to college. The important part is that no one was hurt. Next time please do YOUR homework before you spew out nonsense.

I just wish school districts would look at their priorities. They claim to be broke, have been laying off teachers, making class sizes larger, raising taxes yet they never seem to cut sports or other fluff.

Yeah thats how we went too, it was 75 dollars per student, we also went before graduating in the beginning of june and our money paid and fundraisers, they chartered buses, not use the schools. But then again we went out to great adventure.

School is not in session in PA so why would they take an educational trip? I recall having fun all summer long, now kids are expected to be schooled all yr long, even when not in school.
