Hess Corp. is getting out of the retail gas business and that means it is going to unload its gas stations that dot busy Lehigh Valley roads including a location at 3640 Route 309 in Orefield, which is a Hess Express location.
Hess Express also has local stations on Hamilton Boulevard in South Whitehall Township, across from Dorney Park and at 5640 Hamilton Boulevard in Allentown.
The 1,350 gas stations employ about half of the company's 14,700 workers, but account for just 4 percent of Hess Corp. revenue. It's not clear when the gas stations will close or be sold off.
