Upper Macungie Goes Blue for Autism Tonight

Today is World Autism Awareness Day with local businesses and homes using blue lights to mark the event.

Upper Macungie is going blue tonight for World Autism Awareness Day. To celebrate, light up your home or office in blue to help shine a light on autism.

Join iconic landmarks such as the Empire State Building and others around the world as they Light It Up Blue to help raise awareness about the developmental disorder that affects the brain's normal development of social and communication skills.

In its third year, Light It Up Blue local participants include Air Products and Chemicals Inc., Sam Adams Brewery, Kuhnsville Car Wash and Hops Fogelsville Hotel.

Why not add your front porch to the list? You can purchase special blue light bulbs during the entire month of April at places like Home Depot, Party City or Michael's. A 25 watt blue light bulbs goes for $1.99 each, and $1 from each purchase goes to Autism Speaks, a nationally based, science and advocacy organization.
