Give Baby Skunk a Name That Doesn't Stink

Wildlands Conservancy in Lehigh County wants help naming its new baby skunk!

The Wildlands Conservancy in Lehigh County has a new critter that came to them at 8 weeks old.

The skunk's job will be to help school-aged children and families learn more about the local environment and their role in protecting it.

The conservancy is running a contest to name the baby skunk!

  • E-mail your best name idea to mruhe@wildlandspa.org by 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 17. One idea per person, please.
  • Three finalists will be announced on Monday, July 23 and a Facebook poll will determine the winner shortly thereafter.
  • The winner will be photographed with the baby skunk at the Pool Wildlife Sanctuary in Emmaus.
  • Prizes will be awarded to finalists. Winner package includes option for one week of summer camp or a four-person Bike & Boat Adventure.

Ann - Jack Tobias says we should name the skunk "Moufette," which apparently is French for "skunk"!

Wash out containers that contained fruit, especially yogurt containers, before putting them out to be recycled. Skunks often get their heads stuck in them and suffer a slow and agonizing death.

Good question, Nicole. The Wildlands Conservancy didn't say.

They did describe him as a "furry fella" so I'm thinking it's a boy?
