Get Out: Best Ways to Spend Mother's Day Weekend

Patch to the rescue! There's a lot of ways to celebrate Mother's Day -- or to just enjoy the weekend -- in and around South Whitehall Patch.

 

1. Allentown Band Concert

When/Where: Concert begins at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, at Springhouse Middle School, 1200 Springhouse Road

Why Go: It's the Allentown Band! It has kept the concert band tradition alive for almost 200 years. The event is hosted by South Whitehall's Parks & Recreation department.

Pricing: Free

2. The 105th Annual Bach Festival

When/Where: Saturday, May 12, at various Lehigh University and Moravian College venues.

Why Go: Concerts featuring Bach performed on guitar and harpsichord. And just all that lovely music.

Pricing: Prices vary by concert.

3. Chocolate at Da Vinci Center

When/Where: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on May 12; and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on May 13 at Da Vinci Science Center

Why Go: In honor of mom, Da Vinci's weekend activities include chocolate-flavored activities and take-home gifts from Josh Early Candies.

Pricing: Admission for adults is $11.95; children, $8.95.

4. It's All Happening at the Zoo

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 12 and May 13 at Lehigh Valley Zoo

Why Go: Annual plant sale both days; migratory bird day on Saturday; and half-price admission for mom's on Mother's Day (and you can meet the zoo's animal moms.)

5. Spring Greek Food Festival

When/Where: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on May 12; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 13 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Bethlehem.

Why Go: Good eats!
