Freeze Watch in Effect Tonight
Protect your plants; temperature could drop into the 20s tonight.
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch for Lehigh County, effective tonight through Saturday morning.
A freeze watch means subfreezing temperatures are likely; some areas could see temperatures drop to the upper-20s overnight, according to the warning. And due to an unusually warm winter and early spring, trees and flowers that have already bloomed could suffer damage.
"Any vegetation susceptible to freezing temperatures over a period of three or more hours would be at risk," the weather service said in its statement.
The following tips can help you protect your plants from a freeze:
- Bring potted plants indoors.
- Water plants thoroughly to prevent dessication.
- Place mulch around in-ground plants.
- Cover tender plants with burlap or cardboard overnight.
