Crash Sends 2 to Hospital in Lower Macungie, Police Say

Driver made an improper turn in front of another, causing collision, troopers say.

 

Two area drivers were moderately hurt recently on the Route 222 Bypass in Lower Macungie Township, according to police.

State police at Fogelsville said Walter J. Gdowik, 91, of Allentown attempted to turn left from Route 222 onto N. Krocks Road at 4:34 p.m. Nov.  25. He turned in front of and then collided with a southbound vehicle on Route 222.

That car, driven by Russell L. Shade, 52, also of Allentown, could not avoid colliding with Gdowik's car, police said. Shade's vehicle spun and came to rest in the intersection.

Both drivers were taken to an area hospital by Cetronia Ambulance Corps, police said.

Gdowik was cited for making an improper left turn, police said.
