Code Orange Air Quality Alert Issued
The elderly, the young and those with heart or lung ailments better off indoors today.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a code orange air quality alert for Lehigh and Northampton counties for today.
A code orange alert means that air pollution concentrations may become unhealthy for people sensitive to respiratory problems, including the aged, young children, people with asthma or other lung ailments or heart disease.
It is advisable for people with these problems to avoid exercise or other strenuous outdoor activity.
The high temperature today is expected to reach 89 degrees with sunny skies and there is a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
