Busy Year For Upper Macungie Fire Calls

Township had 1,378 calls, an average of three per day.

 

Upper Macungie Fire Commissioner Grant Grim told supervisors Tuesday night that the three fire companies in the township answered a total of 1,378 calls during the period spanning Dec. 1, 2010 to Nov. 30, 2011.

"That's an average of three per day," Grim said.

Of the 1,378 calls, 1,263 of them were in Upper Macungie Township. The remainder were calls to assist other boroughs and townships.

Grim said the average call took 18 minutes and and total man hours spent on the calls were 25,559 hours and 25 minutes.

The three companies that serve Upper Macungie Township are Station 56, Fogelsville Volunteer Fire Co. and Goodwill Fire Co. #1 of Trexlertown.
