MARILYN HAZELTON: SUSTAINING THE SOUL THROUGH CREATIVE DISCOVERY  A Workshop Series of Words & Photographs


Energize in the New Year, revive your sense of wonder, begin a creative biography all inspired by your photographs, and finally celebrate spring by combining it all in new ways including a class display on the gallery walls and discussion.
4 DATES : Choose ‘A la Carte’ or the Full Series: January 12, February 16, March 23, April 20Time: 9:00 to Noon   
January 12: Energize for the new year by composing tanka (a five-phrase Japanese poetic form) inspired by your photographs.
February 16:  Revive your sense of wonder by writing haiku (a three-phrase Japanese poetic form) inspired by your photographs.
March 23:  Begin a creative biography by combining meditative prose with tanka or haiku and your photographs to create haibun
(a Japanese literary form).
April 20:  Celebrate spring by combining your photographs in new ways with tanka, haiku or haibun for a class display and discussion.(To support participants on their creative journey, photographic and poetic exploration will be encouraged between sessions.  Participants bring 1-3 photographs for each session.)
PRICE: $30 per session; $110 for the series. 
Limited to 18 Participants for each workshop

Marilyn Hazelton is a teaching artist with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.  Her work includes residencies in France, Japan and Morocco. A regular presenter at Haiku Society of America meetings in Manhattan, she is Poet-in-Residence at The Swain School in Allentown. She received an Arts Ovation Award from the Allentown Arts Commission in 2006, in the category of Literary Arts. Her writing has been published in a number of journals and venues.  Marilyn edits red lights, an international tanka journal.
