Luke Bryan is First Headliner Announced for 2013 Allentown Fair

Allentown, Pa. - Luke Bryan, the emerging favorite of country music fans who won 10 fan-voted awards since mid November, will perform at The Great Allentown Fair on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013.

The Georgia native was part of the country bill headlined by Jason Aldean that set a box office record at the fair last August.  When he returns this August, Bryan will be on the top rung of the marquee with special guests Thompson Square and Florida Georgia Line rounding out the bill.

Tickets for this first announced concert of the fair’s show line-up go on sale to the public starting Saturday, January 19.  They are $59 for festival standing room on the open air track (floor) and reserved seats in the covered grandstand.

Fair talent buyer Bonnie Brosious asserted, “Luke wowed and charmed a capacity crowd of over 14,500 fairgoers last summer so we are thrilled to have secured a date on his 2013 Dirt Road Diaries tour.

‘The bonus are his special guests, the reigning Country Music Association’s (CMA’s) Vocal Duo of the Year Thompson Square and Florida Georgia Line, rising star singer-songwriters that just claimed the Number 1 spot on Billboard’s Country Songs chart with ‘Cruise,’ the first release off of their debut studio album,” she added.

Bryan’s popularity in his genre soared in November when he won the American Music Award for Favorite Male Country Artist.

His streak continued and multiplied last week when he took home nine fan-voted American Country Awards including nods for Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Male Single of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Male Music Video of the Year, Most Played Radio Track, and Most Played Radio Track: Male.

After signing with Capitol Records Nashville in 2007, he had success and chart-topping singles with his first two albums “I’ll Stay Me” and “Doin’ My Thing.”  But it was his third and platinum-selling “Tailgates & Tanlines” album released in 2011 that propelled him to the upper echelon of country performers with two more Number 1 singles “I Don’t Want This Night to End” and “Drunk on You” as well as the concert audience-rousing sing-along “Country Girl (Shake It for Me).”

He demonstrated his singing, co-writing and co-producing talents on all of his recordings including his first two Number 1 hits “Rain Is a Good Thing” and “Someone Else Calling You Baby”  and other popular songs from his first two albums “All My Friends Say,” “We Rode in Trucks,” “Country Man” and “Do I.”

The husband and wife team of Keifer and Shawna Thompson, better known as Thomspon Square, set an early mark in their careers nominated for two Grammy-awards last year for Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance on “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not,” the huge hit single off of their debut self-titled album.

They surprised the country world in October becoming the first new duo to win the coveted CMA’s Vocal Duo of the Year, an award that Sugarland and Brooks & Dunn before them have had a stronghold on the past several years.

Thompson Square’s sophomore album, “If I Didn’t Have You,” is due out in the spring.  Its title track, a love song in the mode of their former hits featuring Shawna on lead vocals joined by Keifer for harmonious reprises, is in current radio play.

The new dynamic duo of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley known as Florida Georgia Line are enjoying the success of “Cruise,” their  first single off of their first major label album just released, “Here’s to the Good Times.”

They have been performing, writing and producing singles since 2010 including the song “Black Tears” that Jason Aldean also recorded on his 2012 album “Night Train.”

For the start of ticket sales on January 19, Luke Bryan show, advance discount ride and premium parking tickets will be available at the Fair Box Office, online at Ticketmaster.com, over the phone at 800-745-3000 and at Ticketmaster Centers.  Additionally, the box office will be open Monday, January 21 and Thursday, January 24.  Future box office hours will be on the fair’s web site.

Saw him last year with Jason Aldean. Also saw Blake Shelton. Two great shows. Will definitely be at Luke Bryan this year. He puts on a heck of a show.
