Allentown Fair Places Second at PA Farm Show

Allentown, Pa. - Visitors to the Pennsylvania Farm Show now through Saturday (Jan. 12) will get a chance to see a display that had been at the 2012 Great Allentown Fair featuring agriculture-related products from the greater Lehigh Valley region.

The Fair entered and took second place in last year’s PA Preferred Products display contest that is part of the Commonwealth’s newly adopted branding program that State Secretary of Agriculture George D. Greig said was developed to encourage consumers to seek out and purchase high quality products produced in Pennsylvania.

In congratulating the Fair on placing second, Greig noted that more than six million people visit PA agricultural fairs each summer making the statewide competition an opportunity to acquaint consumers with “our fine PA Preferred Products.”

Fair President Bill Albert and Executive Committee Chairman Ray Hoffman will accept the second place honor at an award ceremony this Friday morning at the Harrisburg Farm Show Expo Center.

The Fair’s display has already been recreated at the expo center and features an array of delectable foods products from regional producers.

Those represented from the valley and its immediate surrounds are Asher’s Chocolate, Blue Mountain Vineyards, Burnt Cabin Grist Mill, Butter Valley Harvest, Clover Hill Wine, Crystal Springs Farm, Eagle Point Farm Market, Edge of the Woods Nursery, Grim’s Greenhouse and Farm Market, Guers Dairy, Heidel Hallow Farm, Just Born Candy, K. Heeps Meats,  Lancaster Country Market, Marburger Dairy, Martin’s Quality Eggs, Matey’s American Pie Company, Mike Fink Water Wheel Farm Market, Mr. Bill’s Poultry, Mushroom Farmers of Pennsylvania, Newhard Farm and Corn Shed, Overlook Orchard, Red Cat Farm, Reppert’s Country Glo Soy Candles, Seltzer Lebanon Bologna Company, Vynecrest Vineyards & Winery, Way Har Farm and Weis Markets.
